If possible, cortisone should not be given during therapy.
It can mask the symptoms and there is a risk that the GS is too low.
With neuro FIP, cortisone is only given in an extreme emergency.
The reason is as follows. Initially, the vessels in the brain are inflamed and dilated.
The cortisone causes the vessels to swell.
This has the consequence that the blood-brain barrier is less permeable for the GS and this may require an increase in the dosage.
